CHRISTOPHE MOREAU

My work is autobiographical, it is inspired by my daily life, my experiences, my questions; it is the reflection of these captured moments which remain frozen in my memory.  During my encounters, I sometimes become the vector of expression of other people’s emotions that I try to retranscribe as best I can in my paintings. My works then become the fruit of sharing. When the image is in memory, everything consists then in retranscribing as well as possible the atmosphere which emanates from the moment: to remove certain contours, to interpret the light to keep only the essential. Because in the end, this is what it’s all about: getting as close as possible to the original emotion. A research that relies on elements that may seem antinomic: where my technique consists in a realistic rendering, or at least in retranscribing a certain reality, it must express the impalpable.
